This historic holiday home features a stunning 13th-century stone spiral staircase and is adorned with period features and antique furniture, making it an ideal venue for family holidays or weekend getaways. Upon entering, guests are welcomed by a series of halls that resemble a railway carriage, with a snug area in the entrance hall, setting a warm and inviting tone for the rest of the house.
One of the standout features of Blairgowrie House is the grand drawing room, designed by the renowned architect Robert Lorimer in the 1920s. This impressive space boasts painted panelled walls, swaged ceilings, and tall picture windows, creating a breathtaking atmosphere for entertaining. The room is furnished with large sofas, a grand piano, and various antiques, making it a perfect gathering spot. Adjacent to the drawing room is the writing room, followed by the main inner hall and a secondary sitting room equipped with comfortable seating and a television. For leisure, the house also includes a games room with a full-size snooker table located on the lower level.
The kitchen, renovated to modern standards in 2018, features two distinct areas: one for cooking and a breakfasting area with a country pine table that seats up to eight guests. This well-equipped kitchen caters to aspiring chefs, while the elegant dining room, positioned just off the kitchen, offers a lovely view of the main lawn. With its spacious layout and thoughtful design, Blairgowrie House ensures that guests can enjoy both communal dining and private relaxation throughout their stay.
Set within 16 acres of beautifully maintained grounds, including lawns, woodlands, and a walled garden, the property provides ample opportunities for exploration and outdoor activities. In the summer months, guests can take advantage of the heated outdoor swimming pool, available from June to August, weather permitting. Conveniently located 18 miles northeast of Perth, the house is near local amenities, including a village store, pub, and hotels. Nearby attractions such as Glamis Castle, the Angus Glens, and the Cateran Trail offer picturesque walking routes, while golf enthusiasts can enjoy local courses. In winter, Glenshee serves as a perfect base for skiing and winter sports, with additional recreational activities like clay pigeon shooting available in the vicinity.
