Originally part of the Portsmouth Estate, built by the Earl of Portsmouth in 1862, the conversion work began in 2010 and was completed in mid-2012, with ongoing enhancements to the grounds. The design emphasizes local materials, showcasing stone, oak, and slate, along with custom-made solid oak doors and windows that complement the building's traditional architecture.
The interior of 'The Lower Arches' features a spacious open-plan layout that accommodates both large families and groups. The accommodation includes three bedrooms, each furnished with king or super-king beds and luxurious cotton linens, along with extra deep pile carpets and solid oak furniture. For added convenience, hairdryers are provided in each room, and one master bedroom boasts an en-suite wet room. The expansive lounge and dining area includes sofa beds, increasing the sleeping capacity to accommodate up to 10 guests comfortably. Modern amenities such as a fully equipped kitchen and a 50” plasma TV with a surround sound system ensure a relaxing stay.
Guests can also enjoy an array of facilities designed for comfort and leisure. A recently installed gym area features commercial-grade equipment and free weights, catering to fitness enthusiasts. Outside, a large BBQ and garden area provide an inviting space for outdoor gatherings. The property is pet-friendly, welcoming pets without additional charges, though guests are requested to keep pets off soft furnishings and carpeted areas. For added convenience, laundry services are available for a small fee, and recycling bins are provided on-site.
