Location map of 'Whitesands, St David's' Blue Flag certified beach
St David's may be tucked away in the far corner of south-west Wales but it retains its title as Britain's smallest city. Birthplace of Wales' patron it is steeped in history and includes a superb 12th Century cathedral with elaborately carved oak ceilings, stone tower and fine stained-glass windows. White Sands is arguably the most scenic beach along the coast. It is superb for surfing but watch out for warning signs as parts of the beach can be dangerous for swimming. The isolated mountain of Carn Llidi creates a breathtaking backdrop and for those energetic enough to climb to the top you are rewarded with panoramic views across the county.
