Location map of 'Summerleaze' Blue Flag certified beach

Bude is an area that blends the old with the new, traditional activities with modern trends. Considerable green corridors such as the River Neet valley, the canal, Bude Nature Reserve and Mear and Efford Downs, blend the built environment. Summerleaze has a unique appeal, not least because it is less than five minutes’ walk from the centre of Bude and the large car park leads directly to the sand dunes. The river, with its bobbing fishing boats, flanks the wide, sandy beach that is sheltered by the impressive breakwater, making the beach particularly popular with families. As the tide drops the beach opens out considerably providing an expanse of sand that opens up to neighbouring Crooklets. The beach boasts a range of facilities and unique traditional features such as the Bude seapool, which is nestled at the foot of the cliffs. Part man-made and part natural rock pool, the salt-water pool, cleaned daily by the tide, has enticed swimmers since it opened in 1930.
