Barn In Defynnog, Mid Wales

Defynnog, Glamorgan

4

Defynnog, located in the picturesque region of Glamorgan, Wales, offers a comfortable retreat in one of four delightful barn conversions. This property accommodates up to four guests and is situated just outside the hamlet of Defynnog, which boasts a friendly pub, a quaint restaurant, an art gallery, and the renowned Defynnog Yew Tree, the oldest living tree in Europe. The surrounding area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, featuring miles of stunning walking paths and mountain biking trails. Just two miles away, the village of Sennybridge provides additional dining options and the remnants of a historic castle, while the vibrant market town of Brecon, located nine miles away, offers a variety of shops, cafes, a cinema, and a theatre, along with the Brecon Beacons Visitor Centre, a perfect starting point for exploring the breathtaking landscapes of the national park.

Upon entering the property, guests are welcomed into a light and spacious lounge/diner that embodies a traditional and refreshing atmosphere. This inviting space showcases exposed stonework and original ceiling beams, contributing to its character. The lounge is equipped with a TV, DVD player, CD/radio, and ample comfortable seating, along with a wood burner effect electric fire to enhance the cozy ambiance. Glass doors open up to reveal delightful views of the garden and the surrounding countryside, making it an ideal spot to unwind after a day of exploration. The dining area is perfectly suited for sharing meals, whether a romantic dinner or a family gathering, with a bright and airy kitchen nearby that includes essential appliances such as an electric oven, microwave, and fridge with an ice compartment.

The ground floor also features a bathroom equipped with a shower over the bath and a WC for convenience. Ascending the fairly steep open tread cottage-style staircase leads guests to the first floor, where they will find a cozy master bedroom with a double bed. A unique five-step ladder accesses a split-level landing that leads to a comfortable twin bedroom, which is particularly suitable for children. It is important to note that both bedrooms have low sloping ceilings, and the twin bedroom is accessed from the double bedroom, adding a quaint charm to the layout.

Stepping outside from the lounge, guests can enjoy the garden terrace, which features a picnic table ideal for al fresco dining, whether for a barbecue or enjoying a glass of wine during the evening. The expansive garden includes a large lawn and offers stunning views over the water meadows, a small brook, and the hills beyond, providing a serene backdrop for relaxation and outdoor activities. This idyllic setting, combined with the property's charming features, makes it a perfect getaway for families or couples looking to experience the beauty of Wales.
