Isle Of Harris

8

Dun Eistein is a charming traditional family house situated in the picturesque crofting village of Northton, located on the Isle of Harris in Scotland. This property, which accommodates up to eight guests across four bedrooms, has been closed for 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. From 2021 onwards, visitors will be required to make and strip the beds, although linen will be provided. The house features a small garden equipped with a picnic table, chairs, and a bench, making it an inviting spot for relaxation amidst the natural beauty of the area.

The Isle of Harris is renowned for its stunning beaches and varied landscapes, with the southern part of the island being particularly flat and adorned with fine sandy shores. Northton serves as an excellent base for exploring the island and its neighboring isles. The surrounding environment is rich in wildlife, and while well-behaved dogs are welcome upon prior arrangement, guests are reminded to keep them under control due to the presence of local livestock. The nearby beaches provide ample opportunities for dog walking, allowing pets to roam freely in a safe environment.

Inside Dun Eistein, the ground floor boasts a well-equipped kitchen complete with modern appliances, a dining room, lounge, sitting room, and a shower room. The upper floor accommodates two double bedrooms, a twin bedroom, and a bunk room, along with a bathroom. Guests can enjoy the comfort of oil central heating, which is included in the rental cost, as well as wireless internet access. Although terrestrial TV is unavailable, satellite reception is provided, ensuring entertainment options for guests during their stay.

The surrounding area offers a wealth of activities, including fishing opportunities at nearby Obbe Fishings and Rodel Fishery, as well as day trips to St Kilda, a UNESCO World Heritage site accessible from Leverburgh. Outdoor enthusiasts can partake in various adventures such as sea kayaking, sailing, and coasteering at the Harris Outdoor Adventure Centre. Additionally, visitors can explore the scenic walks on Northton Machair or learn about the local weaving tradition of Harris Tweed at nearby workshops. The area's natural beauty and cultural highlights make it a perfect destination for those seeking both relaxation and adventure.
