Wharf Barn

Shrewsbury, Shropshire

6

Wharf Barn, located in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, is a newly-converted barn that accommodates up to six guests. Nestled within the serene northern section of the Attingham Park Estate, this charming property is surrounded by 4,000 acres of picturesque parkland, farmland, and woodlands. Originally built as a threshing barn in the late 1700s or early 1800s, it has been thoughtfully transformed into a bright and inviting space, retaining much of its historical character and charm.

The interior of Wharf Barn features a well-designed layout that enhances comfort and functionality. Upon entering, guests are greeted by a spacious entrance hall that leads to a family bathroom and a double bedroom on the ground floor. The heart of the barn is the open-plan kitchen, dining, and sitting area, which boasts a woodburning stove, exposed beams, and a striking double-height window that floods the space with natural light. A second hallway at the rear of the barn provides access to a shower room and leads to a first-floor double bedroom, while a twin bedroom is accessible via the front entrance hall's staircase.

Outside, Wharf Barn shares an enclosed garden with the other four barns, featuring a lawn, a firepit perfect for barbecues, and a dining patio for al fresco meals. Additional amenities include electric car charging points, a bicycle storage area, and a convenient dog shower for pet owners. The estate offers an abundance of outdoor activities, including numerous walking and cycling routes, as well as waterways. A scenic canal runs from the bottom of the drive to Berwick Wharf, enhancing the natural beauty of the surroundings.

During their stay, guests enjoy complimentary access to the Attingham Park’s Regency Mansion, Walled Garden, and Field of Play, along with other National Trust properties in the vicinity during their opening hours. The parkland is accessible at any time, allowing for leisurely exploration. Additionally, the Attingham Carriage House Café, Stables Shop, and a second-hand bookshop are open daily, providing guests with delightful options for dining and shopping within the estate.
