Central heating is provided by a wood-fired Rayburn, and solar panels supplement hot water needs. The property is off-grid, relying on photovoltaic panels for electricity, with a generator available if necessary. Guests can enjoy a private half-acre garden, which is not fully enclosed, and have access to the tidal Upton Creek, where kayaking can be enjoyed depending on the tide. The cottage also offers access to the public gardens of Upton Castle from April to September, with seasonal availability of fruits and vegetables from the adjacent 18th-century walled garden.
