Wells, Somerset

2

Positioned within the picturesque town of Wells, Somerset, this charming cottage offers a cozy retreat for two, featuring one bedroom and a host of amenities designed for comfort and relaxation. The property, which was once a stable, is part of a Tudor-era main house occupied by the owners and is set in a tranquil rural area, approximately half a mile from the main road. Guests can enjoy a smoke-free environment, with no pets allowed, ensuring a peaceful stay amidst the beautiful English countryside.

Upon entering through the stable door, visitors are greeted by a well-equipped kitchen complete with an electric hob, oven, fridge, and washing machine. The staircase leads to a sitting room furnished with a two-person sofa that can convert into a bed for an additional charge. This room features a wood-burning stove, electric heater, TV, DVD player, and Wi-Fi, all complemented by large south-facing windows that offer stunning views. A balcony with wooden decking and wrought iron furniture provides an ideal spot to enjoy the scenery, including the iconic Glastonbury Tor and, on clear days, Exmoor.

The bedroom is furnished with a king-size double bed, bedside tables, and ample cupboard space, along with two Velux windows fitted with blackout blinds for a restful night’s sleep. The ensuite bathroom features a bath with shower, basin, and heated towel rail, ensuring convenience and comfort during the stay. The cottage’s location near a working dairy farm adds to the rural charm, though guests should be prepared for some ambient noise and the occasional nuisance from flies during warm weather.

Wells, known as the smallest cathedral city in England, is just three miles away and offers a wealth of cultural attractions, including the stunning Cathedral and the Bishop’s Palace with its beautiful gardens. Nearby, guests can explore the historic sites of Glastonbury, famous for its Tor and Abbey, or enjoy shopping at Clarks Village in Street. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the proximity to the Mendip Hills, which provide excellent opportunities for walking, cycling, and riding. With additional attractions such as Wookey Hole Caves and Longleat Safari Park within reach, this cottage serves as a perfect base for exploring the rich heritage and natural beauty of Somerset.
