2 Castle Cottages is a charismatic and comfortable retreat located in Lincoln, Lincolnshire, designed to accommodate two guests. This quaint cottage beautifully blends modern amenities with traditional decor, reflecting its historical roots. Situated to the west of the Great Tower of Tattershall Castle and beyond its outer moat, the property was originally a detached farmhouse dating back to the late 18th or early 19th century. In the 1860s, the farmhouse was divided to create living spaces for agricultural laborers. The estate, including the castle and its cottages, was acquired by Nathanial, Lord Curzon of Kedleston, in 1912, who undertook restoration efforts before bequeathing it to the National Trust in 1925.

Upon entering the cottage, guests are welcomed into a hallway that leads to the kitchen on the right and a small boiler room on the left. Continuing down the hallway, one finds the cozy sitting room, perfect for relaxation. The upstairs features a double bedroom with a 5ft bed, which connects to a luxurious bathroom equipped with a slipper bath and a separate shower cubicle. The outdoor space at the rear includes an enclosed lawn area with a table and two chairs, ideal for enjoying meals outside or unwinding with a cup of tea in the afternoon sun.

Guests staying at 2 Castle Cottages benefit from exclusive out-of-hours access to Tattershall Castle grounds, providing a unique opportunity to explore the historic site in a tranquil setting. After dinner, visitors can take leisurely strolls around the castle and along the picturesque River Bain. The nearby village of Tattershall, just a 10-minute walk away, offers dining options at two local pubs and is steeped in folklore, including the tale of Tom Thumb, a legendary figure said to have lived to 101 years old. Additionally, attractions such as the Dogdyke Pumping Station and Just Wake Water Park, which offers wakeboarding and other water activities, are also within reach.

For those looking to venture further, the National Trust property of Gunby Hall is a mere 30-minute drive away, while the historic city of Lincoln, with its magnificent cathedral, castle, museums, and shopping opportunities, is also easily accessible. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the expansive rolling countryside surrounding the cottage, and for a day at the beach, the Lincolnshire coast, including Skegness beach, is just a 45-minute drive away, making 2 Castle Cottages an ideal base for exploring the region.
