There are many sandy beaches and forest trails to explore throughout the area, and also many lovely gardens nearby for those seeking a slower pace of recreation. On the edge of the Galloway Forest Park, with its renowned Dark Skies appeal, the surrounding area offers a tremendous range of activities for visitors, with many beautiful sandy beaches and rocky coves to explore along the Solway Coast. Golf, sailing, horse riding, cycling, walking and fishing are all available, and there are tennis courts and swimming pools in nearby Kirkcudbright. Dumfries with shops, restaurants, museums and theatre lies 22 miles away, while Castle Douglas, Scotland’s Food Town, is 13 miles.
