Barn In Talgarth, Mid Wales

Talgarth, Glamorgan

4

The magnificent rural setting puts wonderful wildlife, flora and fauna on your doorstep, as well as miles of superb walking and cycling. The small market town of Talgarth is located just 3.5 miles away, where you can stock up on supplies, stroll through the historic streets and explore ancient woodlands along the banks of the River Ennig. You are also ideally placed to explore the quaint border town of Hay on Wye, just 12 miles north, with its plethora of bookshops, antique stores and galleries, as well as fine eateries. Alternatively, head 12 miles west to Brecon and the Brecon Beacons beyond or travel 15 miles south to Crickhowell to enjoy canoeing on the River Wye; with so much to do you will wish you stayed longer. The base for your adventures is a pretty 17th century barn that offers plenty of character, with exposed beams, a roll top bath and a beautiful Rayburn oven. The open plan kitchen and living area provides everything you need for a comfortable stay, with a well equipped kitchen, dining table and underfloor heating to create a cosy atmosphere. A separate utility room houses a fridge, table top freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer, with the downstairs bathroom providing both a walk in shower to wake you up for the day and an elegant roll top bath for a long soak when you return. A sunny and spacious conservatory provides a second seating area, with fabulous views out towards the arboretum making this the ideal spot to sit and read, enjoy a morning coffee or simply relish the tranquillity of the place. Upstairs you will find two bedrooms, comprising one double (accessible from one side only), and a second double bed on an oak gallery above the living space. On warmer days, the outside beckons, with a large, lawned garden to enjoy, as well as the arboretum and a lake built by the owner (who can teach you the art of fly fishing during your stay). There is also an abundance of wildlife, and splendid views, with the Radnor hills in one direction and the magnificent Brecon Beacons in the other where better to enjoy a BBQ on balmy days. Don t turn in too early, though, as the property sits within a dark sky area, offering fantastic stargazing opportunities once the sun goes down.
