Nestled in the serene landscape of Bodmin Moor, Liskeard, Cornwall, this unique accommodation features two handcrafted shepherd huts designed for a cozy retreat, accommodating two guests. The huts are situated in a private and tranquil environment, emphasizing a low environmental impact as they operate off-grid. Located just 3.5 miles from the charming village of St Neot and 8 miles from the historic market town of Liskeard, guests can easily access both the North and South coasts, renowned for their exceptional surfing, swimming, and scenic cliff walks.
The shepherd huts are placed within a Site of Special Scientific Interest, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and a Dark Sky Reserve, providing a truly immersive experience in nature. One hut serves as a comfortable bedroom, complete with a wood-burning stove and warm blankets, while the other functions as a kitchen, featuring cooking hobs and a dining area. Outside, guests can enjoy a BBQ and fire pit. Essential facilities, including a spring-fed hot/cold shower and a compost toilet, are conveniently located in a separate wooden structure, enhancing the rustic charm of the location.
The property owner, Jackson, resides a short distance away but ensures guests have complete privacy while being available for assistance if needed. Visitors have the opportunity to explore the vast Bodmin Moor, engage in hiking, or visit nearby surfing beaches. The area is rich in wildlife, with opportunities to spot various birds such as buzzards and skylarks, as well as deer, foxes, and an array of butterflies and frogs. At night, the dark skies offer a breathtaking view of stars, making it a perfect setting for stargazing.
Guests are encouraged to utilize the surrounding fields and areas near the huts, although caution is advised in marshy sections after rainfall. Additional guests can be accommodated with space for tents or camper vans, provided they bring their own bedding. The huts are equipped with a solar-powered lighting system and phone charging capabilities, along with a four-ring gas hob in the kitchen hut. Various local attractions, including Carnglaze Caverns and the Caradon Heritage Mining Trail, are available for exploration, ensuring a well-rounded experience of Cornwall's natural beauty and cultural heritage.
