The market town of Penrith is a short drive away (10 miles) and home to a lovely selection of independent shops and restaurants. There are lots of opportunities to go cycling along quiet country roads and for more experienced cyclists, the Lakes and Dales Loop which takes in the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and West Cumbria, is a must. Explore the quieter northern lakes, take a trip on a Ullswater Steamers, enjoy a gin distillery tour or even walk llamas and alpacas.
