Located on an active working farm with friendly horses in the neighbouring stables and paddocks, this welcoming holiday property lies just 9 miles west of the beautiful city of Durham for the cathedral, university, museums, shops and relaxing river walks. The nearby market town of Wolsingham (7 miles) is known as the Gateway to Weardale offering a range of scenic walking routes. Visit fascinating historic castles at Raby, Bishop Auckland, Barnard Castle, and Durham. Head to the quiet oasis of Hamsterley Forest with stunning walking trails, wonderful wildlife and dark sky stargazing. Tour nearby 12th century Brancepath Castle and play golf at one of the region's best courses. Book tickets for one of Kynren s spectacular outdoor performances. Enter the house via the boot room where you can store your outdoor coats and shoes and head into the spacious kitchen/dining/family room a perfect, social space for spending time together. The kitchen is well equipped for preparing your meals with an electric oven and hob, a fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, and a washing machine. You can sit at the large kitchen table for sociable breakfasts and casual dining and at the other end of the room, there is a comfortable sofa and easy chair where you can relax and watch the Smart TV. An electric wood burner adds to the ambiance and French doors lead into the garden. For special occasions and celebrations, you might choose to eat in the separate formal dining room with a large, extendable table. After dinner, the group can head to the family room and the main lounge to unwind. The lounge has a comfortable sofa and two easy chairs with a feature fireplace and the bay window overlooks the rear garden and countryside beyond. There is also a small conservatory that is perfect to sit quietly with a book. From the boot room, two steps lead to the contemporary shower room with a shower cubicle and WC. Located midway up the stairs, you will find the family bathroom with a bath, separate shower, and WC. There are five bedrooms on the first floor; a king size bedroom which features a comfortable sofa, two double bedrooms, one with a TV, a spacious twin room with a TV, and a lovely single bedroom. Outside, there is a large, enclosed garden to the rear and side of the house which overlooks parts of the farm, with grazing horses in the paddocks and views of the countryside beyond. Extend your day playing outside in the garden and dine alfresco on the patio in the warmer months. Parking for two cars is available at the front of the property and there is additional free parking close by.
