Keswick, Cumbria

Keswick has something to entertain all guests and is close to a handful of wonderful fells, the lapping water of Derwentwater and a host of attractions for rainy days. A 6.5 mile trip will take you to the six fell tops of Blencathra or stay even closer to home and enjoy the easy climb at Catbells (5 miles). For a good hike, find the start of the 9.5 mile Coledale Horseshoe loop close to home in Braithwaite (3 miles). Winding across hills and Wainwrights, this is a great walk with many picturesque scenic spots along the way. Just a mile from your door is the Keswick Launch Ticket Office where you can book to hop on a boat and explore the lakeside villages and towns of Derwentwater. Sleeping eight guests across four wonderful bedrooms, this home has all the space you need to find some peace and quiet yet caters perfectly for lively, sociable nights. Built in local stone, this home exudes charm from the moment you arrive. Stepping inside from the porch, leave coats in the hallway and head straight to the first lounge to relax. Choose from two sofas or an armchair and curl up by the gas fire before heading to the large kitchen to rustle up treats. A great place to be chef, the kitchen is light, bright and airy and has all you need to cook up a storm. The breakfast bar is great for catching up with a cuppa whilst the dining room is home to a wood burner and caters for formal, communal and cosy dinners with all guests. The handy utility room is perfect for towelling down wet dogs and has a washing machine so you can throw muddy clothes in for a spin on your return from adventures. Climb to the first floor and find a second lounge with an open fire, lots of natural light, views of Skiddaw, and a place to spend family film nights in comfort. Also on this landing, find the double bedroom with en suite. The first landing is home to the twin bedroom and the family bathroom. Heading up the second floor, find the next double bedroom and the master suite, both of which are treated to en suites. Whichever room you drift off in, enjoy a peaceful sleep in a beautifully tranquil space. If there are cyclists among you, keep your wheels safe in the shed before and after exploring the tracks and trails which surround you. The ideal spot for sundowners and al fresco feasts, the rear courtyard is gravelled and enclosed, a safe space for dogs to stretch their legs and chase their tails whilst you enjoy a morning coffee. There is on road parking.
