House In Gamblesby, Cumbria

Gamblesby, Cumbria

Tucked on the edge of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Gamblesby is a peaceful village to call home. Just 8 miles away, find Lacy s Caves and follow a loop to Long Meg and her Daughters, along the River Eden and past the village of Little Salkeld. A 12 mile trip will take you to the Rheged Centre, which sits in England s largest grass covered building. This is a great rainy day option if little ones are holidaying with you, as it has a 3D cinema, an exhibition centre and shops to browse. From the neighbouring village of Melmerby (1.5 miles), take to two wheels and tackle the Hartside Pass, or wander the Eden Valley after stocking up on treats from the local bakery. Climb two sandstone steps to make your way inside this magnificent, converted church, which was built in 1868. Push open the heavy door, and ascend another step as you admire original features including the lectern, a pew, and three arched windows. Head through to the open plan living area. Sink into a sofa or armchair and relax in front of the Smart TV with a Blu ray DVD. If you tire of gazing out across verdant views, there is a variety of games for use. The kitchen and dining area have full height ceilings in the beautiful, curved section of the building. With an electric induction hob and double oven, dishwasher, washing machine, two fridge freezers, and microwave, you ll find all you need to cater to. Enjoy a meal together at the beautiful table and sit at the original pews. The double sided wood burner heats the space and the original pulpit stands opposite. Step down to the vestry area where there is a useful boot room space and open the garden door to let the fresh air in. The first bedroom is found on the ground floor with a double bed and views of the surrounding farm buildings, opposite is a family shower room with WC. On the first floor, you will find two further bedrooms off the gallery landing which has a viewpoint down to the kitchen: a spacious twin bedroom (which can be made up as a super king size on request at time of booking) with high beamed ceilings, a Smart TV, an en suite bathroom with a shower over the bath and WC, and a bright king size room with a Smart TV and en suite shower room with WC. Step through a sliding door on the landing and up a curving staircase and into the final king size bedroom, with Smart TV and an en suite bathroom with a shower over a sunken bath. A rose shaped window is a stunning feature in this room, as well as a beam that you have to step over to access the bedroom and a glass panel to look up to the spire. A trap door with a ladder provides access to the spire room. Make your way up at your own risk and you will be rewarded with spectacular views and somewhere to steal away and sit for a quiet moment. Wrapping around the church is an enclosed garden which is great for children to stretch their legs. Wander outside with a drink and sit outside the vestry where there is a picnic table and chairs. Perfect for little ones, there is a swing and lots of space to play. There is off road parking for four cars, and an external shed for storing bikes.
