Goldfinch is a charming lodge located in Newport, Isle of Wight, accommodating up to six guests in three spacious bedrooms. The lodge features a striking wooden exterior that has gracefully weathered to a silvery grey, harmonizing beautifully with the surrounding woodland. Guests enter through a welcoming decked porch, perfect for enjoying a quiet morning coffee. The ground floor boasts an open-plan living area that seamlessly connects to a large wooden balcony, offering picturesque views of the trees and an ideal setting for al fresco dining. The well-equipped kitchen facilitates easy self-catering, allowing quick service for hungry guests, whether dining inside or outside.

After a day filled with activities, guests can unwind on the large corner sofa in the living area while watching their favorite films on the wall-mounted TV. The bedrooms are designed to be light and airy, enhanced by vibrant colors and countryside views, providing a refreshing retreat for guests after a day of exploration.

Goldfinch is situated near the historic Calbourne Water Mill, which has been operational for over a thousand years and is noted in the Domesday Book of 1086. The mill continues to produce flour, muesli, and oats, available for purchase on-site. The surrounding 35 acres of rural landscape are home to a variety of wildlife, including peacocks, doves, and ducks. Guests staying at the lodge can enjoy free access to the mill's attractions, which include a café housed in a converted 17th-century barn, an 18-hole adventure golf course, and a small war museum. Visitors are encouraged to explore the grounds and enjoy leisurely walks, particularly to see the portable steam engine and the small windmill on the hill.

In addition to the mill, Newport offers cultural highlights such as Dimbola Lodge and Shanklin Theatre, along with landmarks like Carisbrooke Castle and The Needles Landmark Attraction. The area is rich in natural beauty and wildlife, making it an ideal base for exploring the Isle of Wight. With its combination of comfortable accommodations, historical significance, and access to various attractions, Goldfinch provides a perfect rural escape for families and small groups seeking to immerse themselves in the island's charm.
