Gwynfe, Dyfed

This charming 1600 s chapel is situated within the peaceful village of Gwynfe, a secluded area of the Brecon Beacons National Park and Dark Sky Reserve. It is an ideal destination for enthusiastic walkers where you can take advantage of the surrounding hillsides and lakes. Nearby you can watch the graceful red kite swoop down for food provided by the Red Kite Feeding Station in Llanddeusant (5.5 miles). Nearby is Carreg Cennen Castle, sited on a high rocky outcrop overlooking the river Cennen (5 miles) and the site of Garn Goch Iron Age Hill fort (5 miles). Other places of interest include the National Botanic Garden of Wales (16 miles), Aberglasney Gardens (11 miles), National Trust Dolaucothi Roman Gold Mines (16 miles). A path leads you to the chapel where you can pause and admire the countryside views before entering through the original porch, with a seat to perch on whilst removing muddy boots. The porch also serves as a wood store and has a bespoke wooden door to take you inside. The living space is open plan and offers a cosy lounge area with corner sofas, wood burning stove, smart TV, a dining table and chairs suitable for six guests, and a contemporary style kitchen that is well equipped with everything you will need during your stay. From the living space, you have access to two bedrooms, both with beautiful stained glassed windows: a double bedroom with an en suite wet room with shower and WC, and a double room with a rear door and ramp access. There is an additional wet room with WC on the ground floor. On the first floor is a twin room with views across the churchyard. Outside, the chapel has a walled garden with a table and chairs for guests to enjoy dining alfresco.
