Lying on the eastern flank of Cartmel Fell, this property looks out to the rugged cliff of Whitbarrow Scar and its nature reserve. Set out on foot to explore the charming local area with its outlying villages, hamlets and popular inns. Nearby Simpson Ground Tarn, a reservoir set amongst small woodland, is only a mile and a half away and makes for an easy walk for a waterside picnic. A short car ride will bring you to iconic Lake Windermere and the River Leven, where you ll find the villages of Newby Bridge, Lakeside, Finsthwaite and Backbarrow, offering a selection of cafes, galleries, shops and boat trips. Or travel west with a 20 minute drive to the Victorian seaside town of Grange over Sands and the historic village of Cartmel. Step through the old oak front door into the welcoming sitting room. With exposed ceiling beams and a stone fireplace with roaring wood burner, this lovely room has been dressed with comfortable sofas, cosy soft furnishings. Continue through to the kitchen/dining room where a polished flagstone floor lies beneath a beamed ceiling and a large inglenook fireplace houses an Aga for preparing delicious meals. Once prepared, dine at the large oak table nearby before enjoying a competitive game of pool in the cellar beyond. A fine set of oak stairs lead up to the first floor where you will find an impressive king size bedroom with four poster bed and feature fireplace, a contemporary king size bedroom, charming main bathroom with roll top bath and useful dressing room with shower cubicle. A further flight of stairs leads up to the attic space where a double bedroom with pitched ceilings and en suite WC sits on one side of a landing and a spacious den with sofas and large screen sits on the other, perfect for younger guests. Outside, the garden is a charming mix of planting, patio and natural rock. A table and chairs offers al fresco dining while a chiminea is perfect for those chilly evenings.
