From a hilltop position on the northern end of the Pembrokeshire coastal path, this quirky & unique cottage offers stunning views over the River Teifi and close proximity to castles, mountains and the best attractions in the county. Named after a sixth century monk, St Dogmaels village sits on the estuary of the River Teifi on the Pembrokeshire coast roughly a mile from the historic town of Cardigan. To the west of the village lies the wide open beach of Poppit Sands, popular with surfers and known for its sea life and fishing, the Welsh Coastal Path stretches out on both sides. Besides having a variety of shops, pubs & tea rooms, St Dogmaels is home to a 12th century Tironian Abbey (at which, during the summer, you might get to see some Shakespeare performed by the Abbey Players!) If you care to take in more history, the wonderful castles of Cardigan and Cilgerran are within easy reach, and the inspiring Preseli Mountains (home of ancient, mythical sites such as Bedd Arthur) are also close by. Think you may have time to spare? Then the Welsh Wildlife Centre in Cilgerran provides fun for the whole family, and only closes for the Christmas holidays. This detached property is full of character with exposed beams and unique features throughout. Accommodation is arranged over three floors. On entering you will be greeted by the sight of a spacious, but cosy open plan lounge/diner containing two sofas, chairs and a dining table for six. Here you can relax by the wood burner in the evenings, watch the TV/DVD or simply reflect on your day and plan the next adventure. For cooking, you will be impressed by the well equipped kitchen which houses an electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge and enough workspace for a veritable banquet! Upstairs, there are three bedrooms (1st floor king size & twin/king, with open plan Attic double) from which you can enjoy sublime views of the river and surrounding hills, plus a bathroom with shower over the bath. There is also a utility room downstairs, containing a fridge/freezer as well as a washing machine for your laundry needs. Outside, you ll have a choice of two private gardens: an area at the front with patio, seating & a small lawn, then another unusual terraced garden at the back above the house, This is accessible via the attic bedroom & a raised decking area or balcony, leading to further steps & a grassed area with apple tree, beautiful views and a fire pit for some memorable, fun filled nights under the stars. Please be aware, extreme care & supervision of pets & children is needed in the rear garden.
