The Dairy Cottage is a charming holiday retreat situated in the serene eight-acre grounds of Great Wells House, located in the picturesque village of Burley within the New Forest National Park, South West England. Originally the home of the dairyman when the estate was a functioning farm, this property has been lovingly renovated to provide a cozy and inviting atmosphere for guests. The cottage accommodates up to five people, featuring two well-appointed double bedrooms—one with a 5-foot double bed and French windows leading to the garden, and the other with twin beds that can be converted into a 6-foot double. Additional sleeping arrangements for a child can be made in the main bedroom or the hallway.

Inside, guests will find a comfortable sitting and dining area equipped with a TV and radio, also with French windows opening onto the garden. The cottage includes a fully equipped kitchen, a cloakroom with a toilet and basin, and a spacious family bathroom featuring a walk-in shower, corner bath, bidet, and additional toilet. The exterior of the cottage boasts a cream brick façade with a slate roof, offering beautiful views of the surrounding gardens and stable yard. Private parking for two cars is available, along with a brick patio that includes a barbecue and outdoor seating—perfect for enjoying the summer weather amidst the lawned garden, which is ideal for outdoor games, though it is not fully fenced.

The Dairy Cottage is approached via a quiet village lane and a long driveway, allowing direct access to the New Forest, where guests can encounter the local wildlife, including the famous New Forest ponies, deer, badgers, and a variety of birds. A meandering brook is nearby, providing opportunities for activities such as playing poo sticks, catching minnows, and observing Kingfishers. For those seeking a beach experience, Mudeford beach is just a short 10-15 minute drive away, where visitors can enjoy swimming and take a ferry to the scenic sandbank and Hengistbury Head, which features a beautiful nature reserve.

For larger groups or families requiring extra space, the Garden Cottage, located across the lawns from the Dairy, can be rented for added privacy. This cozy cottage includes a bedroom with a 6-foot double or twin bed, a charming sitting/dining room, a bathroom, and a cloakroom. The area surrounding the cottages is rich in natural beauty, with local landmarks such as Highcliffe Castle and Parley Manor nearby. Families traveling with children will find attractions like Paultons Family Theme Park, home of Peppa Pig World, and New Forest Cider, making it an ideal destination for a memorable holiday experience.
