This beautiful stone and thatch detached cottage in rural Dorset is ideal for those who want peace and quiet and enjoy walking or cycling in beautiful countryside. It has a large mature garden with lawns, trees, flowering shrubs and borders. The cottage walls are covered in roses and vines, both front and back. With a south facing garden it is ideal for entertaining in summer with sun loungers, parasol, barbeque, chairs and table which seats up to eight or more people. You have total privacy with fantastic views across the adjacent fields to Win Green and Cranborne Chase areas of outstanding natural beauty, and a yew tree and lilac trees to shield you from the lane which has very little traffic. It has ample parking for four or more cars and a gravel drive. The sea is only a 45 minutes drive to Poole with its windsurfing and sailing activities. Trendy Bridport and the Jurassic Coast is about 55 minutes away and well worth a visit. There are lots of National Trust and English Heritage sites such as nearby Wardour Castle or Stourhead as well as Lacock and many more places of interest. This is a quiet rural area - not overrun with tourists. The market town of Shaftesbury is five miles away (market day Thursday) and there is a good local pub The Forester, five minutes walk away in the village, which serves good food. Nearby villages also have good country pubs serving food, most with gardens, many with wonderful views. Donhead St. Andrew has a medieval church which is well maintained and supported and there is a Catholic Church in Wardour about four miles away. In July there is Ballet Under the Stars at nearby Hatch House and for art lovers there is Messums in the 14th Century Barn with gallery and restaurant which has wonderful exhibitions at nearby Tisbury. The Hauser and Wirth art gallery and Durslade Farm and restaurant is about 25 minutes away in Bruton and is well worth a visit. This property is ideal for country lovers who enjoy peace and quiet and has wonderful walks.
