Town: A charming bay, golden dunes, and a harbour can be found in Sandend, a little historical community that dates back to the 1600s. Sandend is one of the smallest fishing communities on the north east coast, but because of its close proximity to the larger communities of Portsoy and Cullen, it enjoys the good amenities offered there while maintaining a calmer and more serene atmosphere. Although Sandend town lacks stores and bars, it does have a fantastic smokery, so there is never a shortage of fresh fish, and towards the east end of Sandend Bay, the Glenglassaugh Distillery offers whisky tastings. The several charming fishing towns strewn along the north eastern coast, each of which has its own history and first-rate local amenities, are easily accessible from Sandend. Golfing, fishing, sailing, surfing, cycling, birdwatching, and beach strolling are other activities available in the vicinity. The beauty in this part of Scotland is breathtaking no matter the weather.
Located in Whitby, this vacation home is on the beach. Museum of Victorian Science and The Moors National Park Centre are also worth visiting. Break out the clubs and hit the links with a golf course nearby, or seek out an adventure with cycling, hiking/biking trails, and rock climbing.
