Dating back to Viking times, the pretty village of Haverigg is known for its sandy beaches, historic harbour, restored lighthouse and the Escape to Light sculpture. The beaches are popular with horse riders, kite flyers and dog walkers, and the village also has plenty of welcoming pubs and restaurants. Haverigg is also home to the RSPB s Hodbarrow Nature Reserve, where you may spot great crested grebes and little terns as well as natterjack toads and an array of rare plants including marsh orchids and bee orchids. To the north is the summit of Black Combe which offers stunning panoramic views (5.5 miles). Other local attractions include Duddon Mosses National Nature Reserve (11 miles) and Swinside Stone Circle (7 miles). On entering this delightful cottage, the welcoming hallway leads you through to the fresh and relaxing lounge/diner. Decorated in bright, restful tones, this is a lovely room to sit back in at the end of a great day out, and has views out towards the harbour. The room features plenty of comfortable seating, a gas fire, TV and DVD player so you can catch up with a favourite show in the evening. The kitchen features an electric oven and hob, washer/dryer and a fridge with a small ice compartment. The ground floor also has a bathroom complete with a shower over the bath and a WC. Going upstairs, the first floor offers three light and relaxing bedrooms. There s a generous king size room with views out across the harbour, as well as a pleasant single room and a pretty twin room. This floor also has a handy separate WC. Outside, the charming front garden has shrubs and outdoor furniture, providing a lovely space to sit back and take in the sea views. There s also an enclosed back yard with a shed ideal for storing bikes.
