Verity Cottage

Padstow, Cornwall

4

Verity Cottage, part of a collection of four holiday accommodations at Trevose Head Lighthouse, offers a unique and scenic retreat for up to four guests. Nestled on a headland between the picturesque Harlyn and Constantine Bays, just four miles west of Padstow, this historic lighthouse has a rich history, having been constructed in 1847, electrified in 1973, and automated in 1995. The lighthouse grounds are private and not open to the public, providing guests with a tranquil environment where they can enjoy stunning sea views and observe local fishing boats as they navigate in and out of Padstow.

The semi-detached cottages, including Brook, Pelorus, and Nimbus, are situated alongside Verity, with the lighthouse centrally located. Guests have access to a communal forecourt for parking and a shared grass area at the back, which overlooks the sea but is fenced for safety due to the cliff edge. The South West Coast Path runs around the headland, offering opportunities for scenic walks toward Padstow, enhancing the allure of this coastal getaway.

While the cottages provide a charming escape, guests should be aware of certain limitations and considerations. Mobile phone reception is very limited, and WiFi can be intermittent, primarily suitable for light browsing rather than streaming or gaming. The access roads to the lighthouse are narrow and may present challenges, especially during certain seasons when vegetation might encroach due to wildlife protection measures. Visitors are also reminded that they are renting a heritage property, which may include features like steps and uneven floors that differ from modern accommodations.

For families traveling with young children, two travel cots and highchairs are available upon request, shared among the four cottages. However, pets are not allowed, and there are specific rules regarding the use of barbecues, fireworks, and drones to maintain the peaceful atmosphere of the location. Additionally, guests should note that there are no facilities for charging electric vehicles on-site. Maintenance staff may occasionally visit for upkeep of the lighthouse and its equipment, but efforts will be made to respect guest privacy during these visits.
