## Neighborhood
This is a quiet street located above the north bay. When you walk out the front door you are a thirty second walk to the top of the cliff and its beautiful view over north bay and the castle. There are benches on the cliff where you can relax and admire the view - the sun sets over land, but the colours of the sky over the sea are often spectacular here.
I am a big fan of sitting on a cliff top bench, watching the sun set as I eat fish and chips (from North Bay Fisheries by Peasholm Park).
North bay has at least 4 renown cafes. The most popular is the Watermark serving organic, locally farmed produce, and fabulous breakfasts all year round.
Just across from the Watermark you can find, wetsuit, kayak and surfboard hire, as well as surfing lessons. The same parade of shops also has a Nisa Local, an ice cream parlour, Doorstep Adventures selling souvenirs, Crocs and wellies, as well as lovely things.
If you turn left out of the house you are a short walk from both South Bay beach and the town centre with all the shops and restaurants.
At least three of Scarborough's restaurants have been mentioned in the Michelin guide: Jeremy's, The Green Room and Lanterna. All walking distance from the house.
You can get to the castle at the top of castle road in less than ten minutes, a walk that takes you past Anne Brontë's grave in St Mary's church yard.
Scarborough train station is about 1.25km through the town centre, which is about a 20 minute stroll. Taxis should cost no more than £6.
## Transit
Private garage provided as parking can be difficult in high season in Scarborough.
It is a small garage, however you can fit a family size car in the garage it is just very tight.
## Notes
Located in Scarborough, this vacation home is in the city center and near the beach. Scarborough Castle and North Bay Railway are local landmarks, and some of the area's attractions include Scarborough Maritime Heritage Centre and alpamare. Traveling with kids? Consider South Cliff Italian Gardens and Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park. Motor boating, surfing/body boarding, and fishing offer great chances to get out on the surrounding water, or you can seek out an adventure with hiking/biking trails nearby.
Self-catering cottage holidays in the UK and Ireland can still be a green option. You can have the comforts of home and the flexibility to do what you want; when you want - without the hassles of air travel!
