School Lodge With Expansive Parkland Views

Somerset

4

Summary:
The School Lodge is a small and cosy 2 bedroom property with expansive views across beautiful estate parkland. The lodge has a large outdoor patio area where you can sit and watch the world go by (usually the cows grazing!) and enjoy some stunning sunsets. The lodge is ideal for 2 adults, or a maximum of 4 adults if using the loft bedroom.

The Space:
There are two bedrooms; one small double bedroom on the ground floor, and one loft double bedroom upstairs. The loft bedroom is low, but there is a Velux balcony window that opens out and gives you some extra space and glorious views over the fields. This is also an ideal workspace, where we have placed an old school desk and chair.

There is a galley kitchen with a dishwasher, washer-dryer, oven, induction hob, fridge, cutlery, plates, cups and glasses, suitable for preparing lunch or dinner. The bathroom is also located on the ground floor, and has a Burlington basin, toilet, bath and shower.

The living room is equipped with a smart TV and access to Netflix and Amazon Prime. There are huge bi-fold windows that open out on to the large patio area, perfect for long summer days and there is outdoor furniture, potted perennials and views for miles. The lodge is next door to the former School House and backs onto Marston Park a Grade II Registered Park and Garden.

The access driveway is shared with the School House, a converted Victorian School where the owners or their guests will often be staying. There is a private parking space for the lodge to the right as you approach the building.

Guest Access:
Guest will have sole access to the School Lodge.

The Neighborhood:
The nearest town is Frome, and with its cobbled old streets and independent shops, it is a really special place.

The famous Frome Independent Market is every first Sunday of the month, and it is a 'must' if you are here at the same time.

Frome town centre - 5 minute drive
Longleat Adventure Park & Safari - 15 minute drive
Stourhead (National Trust) - 15 minute drive
Bruton town centre - 20 minute drive
Cheddar Gorge - 40 minute drive
Bath city centre - 40 minute drive

Getting Around:
Due to our rural location, to get to bus and train routes, you would need to drive/get a taxi (5 minutes) or walk (1 hour) into Frome.

There is a public footpath in the field next to the lodge, and from there you can do some wonderful walks through the fields and estate parkland.

Other Things to Note:
It should be noted that the stairs to the loft bedroom are very steep, with paddle steps that are sturdy and comply with building regulations. Please refer to our images. If booking for a family with young children or for an elderly person, please consider if these stairs would be acceptable to you. We do not currently have stair gates to fit these stairs.

On the School House property there are free-range chickens, and often a dog and children. So it should be noted that you may hear chickens crowing, a dog barking and children playing. The chickens sometimes make their way on to the lodge patio, and will quite happily wander inside the lodge if you leave the doors open!

When booking with us your stay will be protected by a Deposit Guarantee, Guest Guarantee and public liability provided by our risk management partner, SUPERHOG. To benefit from this protection you will be contacted by SUPERH0G directly to verify yourself.

Please note there are steep unprotected stairs so we do not recommend the property for small children

Interaction with Guests:
We will either be in the area or available by phone and are free to help as and when needed.

This vacation home is located in Frome. Nunney Castle and Orchardleigh House are local landmarks, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Avonleigh Organic Vineyard and Quoins Organic Vineyard. Longleat Safari and Adventure Park and Center Parcs Longleat Forest are also worth visiting.
