The lighthouse, a historic structure built in 1847, features modern amenities with its electrification in 1973 and automation in 1995. Guests can enjoy stunning sea views and the opportunity to observe local fishing boats as they navigate in and out of Padstow, all while being sheltered 75 feet above the ocean.

The cottages, including Pelorus, are semi-detached with the lighthouse at the center, providing a communal forecourt for parking and a shared walled grass area at the rear, which overlooks the sea. Safety precautions are emphasized, advising guests against using this space due to its proximity to the cliff edge. The South West Coast Path, a popular walking route, runs around the headland, offering easy access towards Padstow and its surrounding natural beauty. Other accommodations on-site include Brook Cottage, Verity Cottage, and Nimbus Cottage, each also accommodating four guests.

Additional amenities at Pelorus Cottage include the availability of two travel cots and highchairs upon request, accommodating families traveling with young children. The cottage is pet-friendly, welcoming two well-behaved dogs for a small extra charge. Guests should be aware that the lighthouse operates without a fog signal and that there is a limited mobile signal in the area. An honesty box telephone is provided for emergencies, and maintenance staff may visit the site throughout the year, although efforts will be made to respect guest privacy.

As a heritage building, Pelorus Cottage features unique characteristics that may not align with modern construction standards, such as internal steps and level changes. Guests are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the property upon arrival for safety. While barbecues are not provided, guests can bring their own, adhering to safety guidelines. It is important to note that fireworks, drones, and remote-controlled flying devices are prohibited. Wi-Fi access may be intermittent due to the remote location, and while light browsing is feasible, streaming and gaming may be limited due to slower speeds.
