Iasgair Cottage, located at Badan Mhugaidh in Highland, Scotland, is a newly constructed retreat that offers an idyllic escape for families or couples. Built in 2016 within the grounds of the former Ben Damph Estate, the cottage is positioned by the Balgy River, providing breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, including Beinn Damph and the Torridon peaks of Beinn Alligin and Liathach. This picturesque setting is characterized by stunning Highland scenery, abundant wildlife, and a sense of tranquility, making it the perfect getaway for those looking to immerse themselves in nature.
The cottage accommodates up to four guests in two well-appointed en-suite bedrooms. The downstairs features a spacious superking bed that can be converted into twin beds, complete with an en-suite bathroom boasting a luxurious double-ended bath and a separate rainfall shower. Upstairs, the twin room (which can also be configured as a superking) includes an en-suite rainfall shower. Guests can expect plush bedding with duck feather and down mattress toppers, luxurious Egyptian cotton linens, and organic toiletries from the Highland Soap Co., ensuring a comfortable and pampering experience throughout their stay.
Designed with modern amenities, the open-plan kitchen, dining, and sitting areas overlook the stunning Loch Torridon and the majestic Torridon hills. The kitchen is equipped with high-end appliances, including a double oven, induction hob, dishwasher, and a Nespresso coffee machine, making it suitable for all culinary needs. Additional features include a heated porch for boot storage, a shared boot room with facilities for pets, and a wood-burning stove that adds to the cozy atmosphere. The cottage also offers direct access to extensive lochside walks, enhancing the outdoor experience for guests and their well-behaved dogs.
Guests at Iasgair Cottage have complete access to the property and can enjoy the serene surroundings and local attractions, such as Loch Carron and Eilean Donan Castle. The area is rich in natural beauty, with nearby Beinn Eighe Nature Reserve and Glen Torridon providing opportunities for game walks and birdwatching. The hosts, residing in the former Stalker's Cottage on the grounds, are available to assist guests as needed, ensuring a welcoming and accommodating stay. It’s important to note that while the immediate area is level, the surrounding terrain features typical Highland characteristics, including rocky ground and tree roots, so guests should exercise caution when exploring off the beaten path.
