South Molton is a pretty little market town on the edge of Exmoor which has a thriving local market two days a week. The famous Quince honey farm on the edge of the town is a great day out for all the family where you can join a guided tour or try your hands at rolling beeswax to make candles. Only a 6 mile drive to Exmoor National Park which is a must with its magical moorland and woodlands walks also a chance at seeing the furry Exmoor ponies, wild red deer and much other wildlife and birdlife. Lynton and Lynmouth also known locally as Little Switzerland are 20 miles away and worth a visit with their plethora of independent shops, cafes and restaurants. Visit Valley of the Rocks a dramatic rock formation on the cliff overlooking the sea for a stunning walk around the coastline. On the approach to the former guardhouse, there is a door that will take you into the passageway and the cottage is on the right. Stepping into the hallway you can leave your muddy boots behind and relax on the comfy sofa and watch a movie or two on the Smart TV with your family and friends. The kitchen is fully equipped to cook up some of your favourite dishes, including an electric oven and gas hob, a stylish fridge/freezer, microwave and a coffee machine. The washing machine and tumble dryer are housed in the utility room. Heading upstairs there are two bedrooms one has a king size bed and a twin room. Completing the upstairs is the family bathroom with a shower over the bath and WC. Stepping outside into the enclosed walled garden which is mostly laid to gravel, here you can enjoy dining alfresco with the charcoal BBQ and patio furniture on those warm sunny evenings planning your next day of adventure. The old jail is opposite the garden and the owners are happy to show you around this former jailhouse. Roadside parking is limited to one hour (subject to availability). A public car park is within 0.25 miles.
