Summary:
Located in the scenic village of Old Byland, Drey Cottage is a beautiful holiday home with plenty of charm. Sleeping up to four guests, this dog friendly property is perfect for peaceful retreat for couples, families and small groups of friends. Found on a working farm in the North York Moors National Park, you’ll be ideally placed to explore picturesque towns, villages and moorland.

The Space:
Drey Cottage has a bright and spacious living area. The perfect spot to unwind with your loved ones, you can cosy up on the leather sofa or matching armchair and turn on the flat screen TV to watch your favourite shows.

Both stylish and practical, the kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances and cookware so you can prepare meals easily. Sharing the space is the dining area which includes a wooden table and four chairs.

The cottage has two comfortable bedrooms. The master bedroom features a double bed, and the second has twin beds. All beds are made up with plush bedding and premium bed linens to ensure you have a great night’s sleep.

Both bedrooms are home to ensuite bathrooms. Clean and modern spaces, the master bedroom ensuite features a shower, whilst the twin room ensuite is home to a bathtub. Both bathrooms also include wash basins and WCs.

Drey Cottage boasts a south facing outdoor space with garden furniture. Ideal for morning coffees, evening tipples and al fresco dining, the private patio is an added bonus.

Host & Stay are committed to our owners that their homes are protected during bookings. For this reason, we require all of our guests to transfer a £250.00 Damage Deposit (subject to a £10.00 administration charge) or, to purchase an Accidental Damage Waiver for £25.00 which will cover you for up to £500.00 of accidental damage during your stay.

Guest Access:
Guests have access to the full property. The keys to the property are accessed via a secure key safe and full details will be provided shortly before your arrival date.

Ample on-site parking is available.

Cots & high chairs will need to be requested prior to your arrival.

The Neighborhood:
Valley View Farm Holiday Cottages are set on a working farm in the village of Old Byland. There are stunning views of the countryside everywhere you look, and the site is the perfect base for walkers and cyclists looking to explore North Yorkshire with its beautiful scenery and wildlife.

A short drive away is the picturesque town of Helmsley. The only market town in the North York Moors National Park, it is a charming place to stay and provides a fantastic base for exploring the countryside.

The town has a bustling market square, specialist boutiques, Michelin-starred restaurants and even a microbrewery so you can really make the most of your staycation! You won’t find high street chains here, just independent stores selling everything from designer clothes, jewellery, homeware, books and gifts. When it comes to eating and drinking, you’ll have lots to choose from! Whether you would like fine dining, cosy tea rooms, fish and chips or just a quiet drink - Helmsley will have the perfect spot for you.

There are also plenty of attractions on offer. Helmsley’s Walled Garden sits beneath the ruins of Helmsley Castle and spans 5-acres with vibrant flowers, vegetables and fruit growing throughout the season. You can also visit Helmsley Arts Centre and the National Centre for Birds of Prey.

For eating, there are two Michelin Star restaurants close by - The Star in Harome and The Black Swan in Oldstead.

Getting Around:
Valley View Farm Cottages are located just a short 15-minute drive from Helmsley where you’ll find shops, restaurants and bars.

The closest train stations are located in Thirsk and Malton. Both stations are roughly a 30-minute drive from the site. Malton train station has regular train routes to Scarborough, Leeds, York and Manchester and you can reach Manchester, London, York and Leeds easily from Malton.

Helmsley also has great bus links. If you’d like to visit the North Yorkshire coast, hop on the 128 bus which travels to Scarborough with stops in Kirkbymoorside and Pickering along the way. The 31X bus route travels from York to Kirkbymoorside.

Located in York, this vacation home is in a rural area. Cleveland Way and Ampleforth College Golf Club are worth checking out if an activity is on the agenda, while those looking for area attractions can visit Thirsk Birds of Prey Centre and The Dutch House.
