Fort Willam is a charming single-storey property located in a serene setting on the edge of a working farm, adjacent to the historic Erracht Lodge, birthplace of Lieutenant Colonel Sir Alan Cameron, who notably raised the Cameron Highlanders in 1793. This idyllic accommodation, which sleeps four, offers breathtaking views of the Nevis Range and the picturesque Caledonian Canal. Situated at the foot of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK, Fort Willam provides easy access to the vibrant town of Fort William, renowned for its excellent leisure and shopping options, making it an ideal base for exploring the surrounding natural beauty.
The area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering a plethora of activities such as skiing, snowboarding, hill walking, fishing, shooting, and golf. Water sports and mountain biking trails are also available, alongside the opportunity to experience the scenic Jacobite steam train ride. The property’s location allows for convenient day trips to renowned destinations such as Glencoe, Oban, Loch Ness, the Isle of Skye, the Cairngorms, and Inverness, all within this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Upon entering the property, guests are welcomed into a spacious porch leading to a bright open-plan lounge, kitchen, and dining area, adorned with beautiful stained glass windows and high ceilings. The well-equipped kitchen features modern appliances including an electric oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge, and microwave. The dining area provides access to a rear enclosed garden, while the lounge boasts stunning mountain views, a TV/DVD, and a cozy wood burner, perfect for enjoying relaxing evenings by the fire. The accommodation includes two comfortable bedrooms: a double and a twin, both offering ample storage and delightful views of the surrounding forest and mountains. Additionally, a boot/utility area is accessible from the kitchen, complete with a washing machine, tumble dryer, and freezer. Outside, the mature garden features a seating area ideal for alfresco dining and stargazing on clear evenings.
