Cottage In Braithwaite, Cumbria

Braithwaite, Cumbria

4

Ideally located for the A66, with easy access to explore the Lakes, this cottage is situated on the outskirts of the village of Braithwaite. With mountains, lakes and countryside in the surrounding area, there is an abundance of walks and cycle routes that can be explored from the doorstep. There is a children's play area nearby the cottage, with a field for football and other sports. For excellent mountain biking routes and forest trails, visit The Forest of Whinlatter (2 miles), where you can also find exciting high ropes courses at Go Ape. For some retail therapy, Keswick is within 3 miles and has an array of independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants, as well as a variety of water sports on Derwentwater. Travel 14 miles and take an underground tour of Honister Slate Mine, the last working slate mine in England, where thrillseekers can attempt the Via Ferrata. Tastefully decorated throughout, this cottage is a welcoming home from home. Leave boots and coats in the handy entrance porch before continuing to the open plan living/dining space. Perfect for relaxing after a busy day, settle on the comfortable sofas warming your toes against the gas fire with a film on the TV. The armchair in the window is a lovely sun trap to catch up with a good book. Gather round the wooden dining table for a hearty home cooked meal and, in warm weather, open the French doors to the patio. The kitchen is equipped with a built in electric oven and separate induction hob, microwave/grill, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. Enjoy your morning coffee at the table or take it to the conservatory to watch the comings and goings of the many birds. A cloakroom with hanging space and WC completes the downstairs. Upstairs, both bedrooms benefit from fantastic views over the garden to the fells beyond. The master double bedroom has a hanging cupboard and chest of drawers, while the twin room has two chests of drawers and a wardrobe. Completing the accommodation is the family bathroom with a shower over the bath. Outside, to the rear of the cottage is an informal garden. Set out over different levels, the raised patio makes the most of the stunning views of the surrounding fells and is perfect for al fresco dining at any time of the day. Down five steps from the patio, the rest of the garden is laid to lawn with plenty of mature plants, trees and shrubs. To the front, there is off road parking for up to three cars and a garage for storing bikes and outdoor gear.
