A trip to this part of the world would not be complete without visiting to St Bees Head and the long sandy beaches. St Bees is also the starting point of Alfred Wainwright’s Coast to Coast walk and has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A 5-mile drive and you’ll reach the Lake District National Park where you have an abundance of walks, cycle routes, wildlife, mountains, and lakes. Your nearest lake is Ennerdale Water, 6 miles away. Ennerdale is widely regarded as one of the most unspoilt areas of the Lake District and is teeming with wildlife including indigenous red squirrels, osprey, and buzzards. If that’s not enough, Loweswater, 13 miles way, which leads to Crummock Water and then Buttermere and are well worth a visit.
