A charming and characterful 17th century cottage, Bread Oven Cottage is part of the Category B listed Granary in the Scottish Borders village of Smailholm near Kelso. The cottage features an open plan living space with wood burner, a well equipped kitchen and a dining area along with two bedrooms, one with en-suite shower room and one with private shower room. Furnished with contemporary furniture and a modern kitchen complementing the ancient fabric and character of the building, Bread Oven Cottage provides an ideal place to relax. With full Wi-Fi controlled and zoned central heating, LED lighting and low energy appliances throughout, the cottage is as Eco friendly as the owners can make it whilst retaining its historical character and charm. The enclosed garden includes a sunny central seating area close to the original well, once used to supply the property and its generations of past residents. There is parking for up to two cars within the garden gates. Bread Oven Cottage is truly accommodation to enjoy at any time of year!
Smailholm is set midway between the market town of Kelso and ancient Melrose, it is ideally placed as a base for many activities. Close by is Smailholm Tower, often visited in his childhood by Sir Walter Scott. The Borders are famous for historical abbeys, ancient castles, magnificent country estates, walking, biking, fishing and shooting. The cottage is also only an hour or so away from Edinburgh and just a little further from Glasgow.

There is open water in the property grounds.
Located in Kelso, this cottage is on a river. Kelso Racecourse and Borders Abbeys Way are worth checking out if an activity is on the agenda, while those wishing to experience the area's natural beauty can explore St Abbs & Eyemouth Voluntary Marine Reserve and Bank Street Gardens.
