Your central location means you are just moments away from an array of restaurants, shops, bars, and entertainment in Cheltenham’s Brewery Quarter, as well as miniature golf, escape rooms and an IMAX cinema amongst some of the activities on offer. Cheltenham itself is a historic spa town with plenty of cultural attractions. The town itself is a joyous ramble of leafy boulevards and stunning regency terraces: A short stroll takes to you into the glorious ornamental Pitville Park and the famous Pump Rooms. From here you can carry on toward the racecourse or loop back through the townhouses in Wellington Square and Clarence Square. A leisurely walk through the town centre and along the Promenade soon takes you towards further Georgian splendour in the neighbouring districts of Montpellier and Tivoli, notable for their independent bars, restaurants, cafes and boutiques. If you time your trip well, you could be getting dressed up to spend the day at Cheltenham Racecourse, a mere 15 minute walk away, and home to the famous Cheltenham Festival and Gold Cup, one of the many festivals hosted by the town throughout the year where you can find jazz, literary, science, cricket or comedy, there’s something for everyone!
For those wishing to venture further afield – Cheltenham is the perfect base to explore the picturesque landscape of the north Cotswolds, with such famous picture-perfect market towns as Broadway, Winchcombe, Chipping Camden, Moreton in Marsh, and Cirencester all within easy reach. Of these, Broadway and Winchcombe can be accessed via steam train from the heritage station near the racecourse. Historic Gloucester lies just south of Cheltenham, with its magnificent Norman Cathedral and preserved river dockyards Also worth a visit; other places within an hour’s drive to the north are the medieval towns of Stratford-upon-Avon, being home of Shakespeare and the world-renowned Shakespeare Theatre, and Warwick with its amazing preserved medieval castle.
