Head over to nearby Caldbeck, a traditional fell village with tea rooms, country pub serving fine ales and home cooked food, and many craft and workshops to browse. This part of the Lake District National Park is home to popular visitor attractions including the market town of Keswick, a bustling haven to the visitor, Bassenthwaite, a 4-mile long lake with the mighty Skiddaw Massif as its backdrop, or to the north Carlisle, with pedestrianised shopping, Tullie House for rainy days and the castle for a trip back in time.
