The area is no longer industrial, and most of the former industrial sites have been recovered by nature, creating a unique and attractive wooded valley. The gorge is now a network of trails, bridleways, and rural lanes, while the charming settlement is known for housing the world's first iron-made bridge, which was completed between 1777 and 1779. The Ironbridge Museums Trust, which includes the intriguing Blists Hill Victorian Village, features a collection of eleven industrial and Victorian themed museums, featuring a magnificent selection of pubs, restaurants, stores, and tea rooms. Shrewsbury, Bridgnorth, Much Wenlock, and Ludlow, as well as the Wroxeter Roman City, the Severn Valley Railway, the RAF Cosford Museum, and many National Trust properties, are all within driving distance.
