The Space:
Traditional in style and situated within wonderful surroundings, this one-bedroom cottage is a relaxing getaway. In the living room, you’ll find beautiful traditional features along with some modern twists. Countryside themed cushions sit on the comfy leather armchairs.
Following on from the living area is the kitchen. The cosy space has everything you could need for your stay, including a dishwasher, oven, hob, microwave, kettle, toaster and fridge.
Take a stroll along the hallway and you’ll discover the bedroom and bathroom. With a cosy, warming colour scheme and views out across the North York Moors National Park, the bedroom is special. The comfy, king size bed and flat screen TV mean you can settle down for an early night and keep up with your favourite shows. There is also ample wardrobe space and a dressing table area.
The bathroom is well equipped and it features a bathtub with overhead shower, wash basin and WC.
Outside, there is an enclosed south facing seating area where you can enjoy peaceful mornings and relaxed evenings whilst admiring the stunning views.
Host & Stay are committed to our owners that their homes are protected during bookings. For this reason, we require all of our guests to transfer a £250.00 Damage Deposit (subject to a £10.00 administration charge) or, to purchase an Accidental Damage Waiver for £25.00 which will cover you for up to £500.00 of accidental damage during your stay.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the full property. The keys to the property are accessed via a secure key safe and full details will be provided shortly before your arrival date.
Ample on-site parking is available.
Cots & high chairs will need to be requested prior to your arrival.
The Neighborhood:
Valley View Farm Holiday Cottages are set on a working farm in the village of Old Byland. There are stunning views of the countryside everywhere you look, and the site is the perfect base for walkers and cyclists looking to explore North Yorkshire with its beautiful scenery and wildlife.
A short drive away is the picturesque town of Helmsley. The only market town in the North York Moors National Park, it is a charming place to stay and provides a fantastic base for exploring the countryside.
The town has a bustling market square, specialist boutiques, Michelin-starred restaurants and even a microbrewery so you can really make the most of your staycation! You won’t find high street chains here, just independent stores selling everything from designer clothes, jewellery, homeware, books and gifts. When it comes to eating and drinking, you’ll have lots to choose from! Whether you would like fine dining, cosy tea rooms, fish and chips or just a quiet drink - Helmsley will have the perfect spot for you.
There are also plenty of attractions on offer. Helmsley’s Walled Garden sits beneath the ruins of Helmsley Castle and spans 5-acres with vibrant flowers, vegetables and fruit growing throughout the season. You can also visit Helmsley Arts Centre and the National Centre for Birds of Prey.
For eating, there are two Michelin Star restaurants close by - The Star in Harome and The Black Swan in Oldstead.
Getting Around:
Valley View Farm Cottages are located just a short 15-minute drive from Helmsley where you’ll find shops, restaurants and bars.
The closest train stations are located in Thirsk and Malton. Both stations are roughly a 30-minute drive from the site. Malton train station has regular train routes to Scarborough, Leeds, York and Manchester and you can reach Manchester, London, York and Leeds easily from Malton.
Helmsley also has great bus links. If you’d like to visit the North Yorkshire coast, hop on the 128 bus which travels to Scarborough with stops in Kirkbymoorside and Pickering along the way. The 31X bus route travels from York to Kirkbymoorside.
