Cottage In Appledore, North Devon

Appledore, Devon

2

This charming, cosy cottage is one of four cottages tucked away in a quiet courtyard setting. For centuries an important shipbuilding centre, Appledore is now home to the North Devon Maritime Museum which explains the history of the village. The Victorian novelist Charles Kingsley described Appledore as that little, white fishing village and from the cottage you can take a stroll to the bustling quayside where you can watch the boats bobbing in the water or explore the maze of quaint cobbled streets where you will discover pretty former fishermen s cottages. For keen walkers there is direct access to the South West Coast Path and river walks towards Bideford, or discover the two miles of golden sands at Westward Ho! beach which is under a mile away, popular with surfers and sand castle enthusiasts alike. There are many other attractions and leisure facilities all within easy reach and the pannier market town of Bideford is a 10 minute drive with its shops and restaurants. From Bideford Quay, the MS Oldenburg regularly takes day trippers to Lundy Island where you can explore the stunning scenery and the varied terrain, or spot the many varieties of wildlife which inhabit the island. Back on dry land, in the evenings there is a range of fine cuisine to enjoy in Appledore in one of the many pubs and restaurants, all within walking distance. On entering the cottage, you will notice some of the original features including exposed beams. The open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area is located on the ground floor and is a great spot to relax in after a busy day out. The kitchen area is equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge and microwave and there is a dining table for two, perfect for leisurely meals. Unwind in front of the TV, watch a DVD or utilise the selection of games and books available. Moving upstairs is the light and airy bedroom which has a king size bed, TV and an en suite shower room with rainfall shower and WC. Outside is a shared sun trap garden for guests to enjoy, as well as a courtyard with seating and a BBQ. Public pay and display parking is available nearby.
