Bike store. On-road parking. No smoking. . The cottages in this picturesque village behind the pump date from the late 18th century, where the centre of the village once stood. Be welcomed into the living room, where you can look forward to evenings spent relaxing on the leather sofa in front of your favourite programme on the TV, as you discuss the day’s adventures. Delicious meals can be whipped up in the well-equipped kitchen, ready to be enjoyed at the intimate dining table for two. If the weather is nice, why not dine alfresco out in the rear enclosed sitting-out area and enjoy a glass of something cold on a warm summer’s evening? Climb the stairs up to the first floor, where you can soak in the bath or take a shower in the large bathroom before retiring to bed in the pretty double bedroom.
If you don’t fancy cooking why not visit the local pub which is within a stone’s throw from the cottage and is rumoured to have existed in the early 17th century, with hundreds of years at the heart of the community this country pub has long been a favourite with locals and ramblers alike. Take the short drive over to Kedleston, where you can tour the esteemed 18th-century Kedleston Hall, featuring decadent interiors and theatre/cinema events in the summer months.
For a taste of city life, venture into Derby, where you can explore a plethora of historic sites, including The Museum of Making at Derby Silk Mill, Derby Museum and Art Gallery and Pickford’s House.
