Rixlade Barn (UK33437) is a large, semi-detached barn conversion sleeping up to 6 guests offering spacious, comfortable accommodation with character and charm. It is perfect for families or groups of friends who want to get away from it all and enjoy the many attractions that North Devon has to offer. The property comprises 3 double bedrooms, two shower rooms with under-floor heating, a living/dining room with a cosy oil-fired burner and a large kitchen/dining room with Aga and all the modern appliances you could need. Outside is a private and secluded large courtyard with garden furniture, barbecue and a fishpond. There is off-road parking for three cars. Both properties have access to a shared grass seating area, ideal for enjoying the sunshine. Fancy a day staying local? Then within easy walking distance is an excellent Inn where you can treat yourselves to traditional or contemporary tasty fayre.
Abbotsham is a small village in the area known as ‘Hame’ in the Domesday Book and is close to Westward Ho! with its 2 miles of sandy beach. Westward Ho! offers an array of seaside amenities including some fascinating curiosity shops and a range of restaurants and cafés, many of which are regularly visited by locals for their quality fayre. Close by are two popular attractions, The Big Sheep amusement farm park, and if you fancy some high ropes, wall climbing, surfing or even a spot of coasteering, The Ultimate Adventure Centre is the place to visit! The beaches are a main attraction of this area for many, and the South West Coast Path also runs through Westward Ho! Swimming, surfing, paddle boarding, entertainment and fishing are all close by too. The popular Tarka Trail which stretches 180 miles can be accessed 3 miles away providing the unique opportunity to follow a disused railway line by bicycle or on foot, allowing you to enjoy some of Devon’s finest countryside and scenery.
For a day with a difference take a trip across to Lundy Island, home to England’s first statutory Marine Nature Reserve due to its unique flora and fauna. Measuring just 3 miles by ¾ mile, this entire island has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest. For visitors seeking a piece of Devon life then the towns of Bideford and Barnstaple offer weekly pannier markets, with a host of local produce and crafts on offer. You are also very conveniently located for day trips to other beautiful places such as Exmoor, Clovelly, Hartland, and North Cornwall.
