Large Country House Sleeps Up To 13 On The Outskirts Of Salisbury

Salisbury, Wiltshire

13

Belmont House, a majestic residence built in 1835, stands on the outskirts of Salisbury, Wiltshire, in the picturesque South of England. This grand property boasts an impressive capacity to accommodate 13 guests across its six spacious bedrooms, making it an ideal retreat for families or groups. The house is surrounded by lush gardens on three sides, offering stunning views of the River Avon and the water meadows, with the iconic spire of Salisbury Cathedral gracing the distant skyline. The home retains many of its original features, including ornate painted ceilings, elaborate gold cornicing, and substantial marble fireplaces, creating an ambiance reminiscent of a period drama set, which has led to its frequent use as a film location.

The layout of Belmont House is thoughtfully designed across three levels. The lower ground floor features a large kitchen equipped with a four-oven Aga, complemented by a boot room that opens onto a terrace and spacious garden. An additional kitchen with a standard oven and a laundry room enhances the convenience of this level. On the middle floor, guests will find four elegantly appointed reception rooms: a formal drawing room with a stunning black marble open fireplace, two cozy sitting rooms with televisions (one featuring a large log burner), a dining room with another log burner, and a delightful Morning Room showcasing an elaborate white marble fireplace. This floor also houses a pool room, providing additional entertainment options for guests.

Ascending to the upper levels, Belmont House offers five double bedrooms, one of which includes an extra single bed, along with three bathrooms—one of which is en-suite. The lower ground level accommodates the sixth bedroom, which can be configured as a king-sized bed or two singles, also with an en-suite bathroom. While children are welcome, it is important to note that the house's old-fashioned staircase is not suitable for stair gates, and the numerous stairs may pose challenges for those with visual or physical impairments.

Situated in a rural area, Belmont House is conveniently located near various attractions, including theme parks and natural beauty spots such as the New Forest National Park and Cranborne Chase & West Wiltshire Downs. Families can enjoy nearby activities like Paultons Family Theme Park, home to Peppa Pig World, and Wessex Raceway. For those traveling with children, additional options include Forest Falconry and a variety of local events and games. The area is also rich in wildlife, offering opportunities for game walks and birdwatching, making it an ideal destination for nature enthusiasts and families alike.
