The Stables is a beautifully appointed property situated in the quaint village of Crimplesham, Norfolk, offering an ideal retreat for families and groups of friends. Originally commissioned in 1881 as a stable block for Crimplesham Hall, the house was designed by the renowned architect Alfred Waterhouse, who also created the Natural History Museum. With a capacity to accommodate up to 11 guests across five bedrooms, The Stables features a ground floor wet room, a large enclosed outdoor space, and a unique games room that can be accessed through a hidden door disguised as a bookshelf, making it a perfect setting for fun and relaxation.
Upon entering The Stables, guests are greeted by a striking double-height ceiling and a spacious lobby that leads to both the kitchen and dining room. The kitchen is fully equipped for preparing family meals, which can be enjoyed at the large dining table. The games room, a highlight for both children and adults, includes a pool table that converts to a table tennis table, as well as a games console and a TV. The cozy living room, featuring a characterful fireplace, provides a warm and inviting atmosphere, especially during the colder months, enhanced by the contemporary decor and recent refurbishments throughout the property.
The upper floor houses all the bedrooms, including a tastefully decorated master suite with in-built wardrobes and a double bed. Among the other bedrooms, one is en-suite, while another boasts wood-panelled walls and exposed floorboards for a luxurious feel. The fourth bedroom, designed for kids, features two bunks and is accessed via a whimsical 'Diagon Alley' inspired passageway, while the fifth bedroom contains a single cast iron bed. A luxurious family bathroom completes the upstairs, showcasing traditional fixtures like a roll-top bath and spacious walk-in shower. Outside, the south-facing garden is fully enclosed, making it safe for younger children, and is equipped with furniture for outdoor dining and BBQs during warmer months.
The Stables is perfectly positioned to explore the rich offerings of Norfolk, with the historic market town of Downham Market just a stone's throw away. Known for its charming historic buildings and vibrant markets, Downham Market provides various pubs, restaurants, and independent shops. Nearby Ely boasts a stunning cathedral and a range of attractions, including antique shops and a leisure village with a cinema and dining options.
