Guests can also choose to book the nearby Groom’s Cottage, creating a combined accommodation option called The Stables, which can host larger groups of up to 14 people.

The cottage is set within the stunning grounds of Arbigland House, which includes Arbigland Gardens, open to the public on select afternoons. Spanning 24 acres, the gardens are a blend of woodland and diverse floral displays, featuring camellias, rhododendrons, and azaleas, along with serene areas like a Japanese garden and a sunken rose garden. The local climate, influenced by the surrounding sea, is notably mild, fostering a rich variety of wildlife, including deer and red squirrels, and providing a tranquil atmosphere punctuated only by the sounds of nature.

For those seeking adventure, Coachman’s Cottage serves as an excellent base for outdoor activities. A half-mile Broad Walk leads guests from the cottage to the beach along the Solway Firth, where they can enjoy beachcombing and breathtaking views of the Cumbrian Hills. The area offers numerous walking trails, including coastal paths to Southerness and Carsethorn, where visitors can find local pubs and enjoy the scenery.
