If you fancy a staycation that offers something a little different, then you'll love this unique and romantic escape nestled among nature.
There are a number of walking trails around to lead you off into the beautiful surroundings, whether it be by foot, cycle, car or kayak. Otherwise some of Scotland's top national parks, historic monuments, golf courses, distilleries and restaurants are a short distance away. And the centre of Glasgow sits less than 7 miles away with regular bus services.
The whole of the boat is available for guests to enjoy as well as the jetty at the side and front of the boat.
Feel free to crank the bbq at the water's edge and sit back and relax. The bow and roof also make for great dinning and relaxation areas out in the sunshine. If you’d rather be snuggled up inside, then the Victorian wood burner turns Primrose into a cosy wee haven. There is a smart TV with a number of apps, such as Netflix, Amazon, I-players, YouTube, etc and board games to pass the time by, so pull out the sofa bed and get even more comfortable.
Guests have full access to the boat, jetty and free car park.
The surrounding towns and villages have ample amenities to offer from cafes, bakeries, restaurants, shops, etc. But if you don't want to stray too far, then the local retail park is only a 10 minutes walk from Primrose.
The boat is 23 minutes by car from Glasgow Airport or 46 minutes from Edinburgh Airport. 17 minutes from Glasgow Central Station by car or 1 hour and 6 minutes from Edinburgh Waverley Station. Glasgow City Centre is less than 7 miles away and can be reached via bus. There are regular bus services that can take you into the heart of Scotland.
Please note that this is a static stay.
Due to the design of a narrowboat, Primrose is narrow at the stern and so, the berth is slightly smaller than a double, as it narrows on one end. But, there is also a standard double pull out sofa if guests feel a little too snug.
The shower room is narrow at 53.5cm wide and 175cm high. Taller guests will have to bend a little whilst using the shower.
Because the boat is snug it can only accommodate up to 2 adults. It cannot accomodate 4 adults.
Located in Glasgow, this houseboat is in the city center and on the waterfront. Cottiers Theatre and Tall Ship at Riverside are local landmarks, and some of the area's attractions include Glasgow Science Centre and Glen Etive. Traveling with kids? Consider Xscape Braehead, or check out an event or a game at OVO Hydro. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.
Self-catering cottage holidays in the UK and Ireland can still be a green option. You can have the comforts of home and the flexibility to do what you want; when you want - without the hassles of air travel!
