The Granary is part of Tyn Cellar Farm Cottages, which are Grade 4 listed by Visit Wales, while the entire farm holds a Grade 2 listing due to its historical significance as part of Margam Abbey, established in the 1200s. The property has a rich history, with records of every tenant since 1536 following the disillusionment of the Abbey. Many of the cottages maintain Victorian features from updates in the late 1800s, including roof tiles.
