Highlands Apt 5 - Cliff Top, Garden, Free Wifi + Parking

Shanklin, Isle of Wight

4

Highlands, located in Shanklin on the Isle of Wight, is a luxurious property that has undergone a significant transformation from its historic roots. Originally, the site featured an impressive Victorian residence built for Sir James Thomson Ritchie, the Lord Mayor of London, and later occupied by Reverend William Page Roberts, the Bishop of Salisbury. Over the years, it transitioned through various owners, including the McAuslane family, who converted it into a well-known hotel. After a period of neglect, the current Highlands was constructed as a grand mock Georgian manor house but remained unfinished for a decade. Following extensive refurbishment, it has now been restored into five spacious, luxurious apartments, each offering unique features and stunning views.

The apartments at Highlands are designed to provide comfort and elegance, showcasing oak furniture and leather sofas, along with oak-floored living areas. Each apartment is equipped with modern amenities, including fitted kitchens with granite worktops, a 32" LED TV with Freesat, DVD, and complimentary Wi-Fi. Notably, the penthouse boasts a distinctive rooftop conservatory and balcony, while the annexe features a duplex layout. The property is spread across four levels, offering spectacular panoramic views of the sea, town, and countryside, including sights of Sandown Bay and the Downs toward Ventnor.

Apartment 5, situated on the garden floor, is particularly family-friendly, featuring its own entrance and direct access to the communal garden. It includes a king-size bedroom with an ensuite, a twin bedroom, a bathroom, and an open-plan lounge/dining/kitchen area. For families traveling with young children, a travel cot with linen and a high chair can be provided at no additional cost. The other apartments (1, 2, 3, and 4) are also available for individual booking or can be combined for larger groups, making Highlands an excellent choice for various accommodation needs.

Highlands is ideally located along the coastal path between Shanklin and Sandown, close to National Trust land and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Visitors can explore the charming Old Village with its thatched cottages, as well as nearby shops, pubs, restaurants, and the beautiful beaches of Shanklin. Additionally, families can enjoy attractions like Pirates Cove and the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary. Guests can also take advantage of a 15% discount on car ferry services from Red Funnel and Wightlink, enhancing the convenience of travel to and from this picturesque destination.
