This property consists of two separate buildings with a small courtyard in between. Perfect retreat for 2 couples or a cosy family group, sharing dining, cooking and relaxing spaces during waking hours but with entirely private boudoirs and bathroom retreats at sleep time. Wharton House Mews lies at the very heart of the pretty village of Cartmel with its quaint cobbled streets, delightful stream side walks and 12th century Priory. Take advantage of the array of charming shops, pubs and Simon Rogan's two renowned starred restaurants; a wonderful destination for foodies. The famous racecourse with its nine race days a year is on the doorstep, has a fantastic atmosphere and is a fun day out. A little further afield why not visit the Campbell Legend Bluebird Exhibition, the Lakeland Motor Museum or the spectacular gardens at Holker Hall. A trip to Lake Windermere is a must and only 20 minute drive by car. The larger of the two properties has a welcoming entrance hall with plenty of space to hang up coats and store those muddy walking boots. The stairs then lead up to an open plan lounge / kitchen diner which has been furnished to a high standard and has everything needed to enjoy memorable nights in. The designer kitchen is fully equipped with twin electric ovens, induction hob, dishwasher, fridge / freezer and wine cooler and the fantastic high ceilings give a real sense of light and space. The lounge area has a large Smart TV with sky sports package and Sonos sound system and comfy sofas to snuggle up on. Leading through to the beautifully decorated bedroom, there is a super king size bed and dressing room, as well as a luxurious bathroom with a free standing bath and shower. Walking just a few metres across the courtyard, is the former village 'lock up'. This is a small, quirky property with the second bed space intriguingly shoehorned into the former village jail which is 'listed' as a building of special architectural and historical interest. The little touches are what makes this bijoux space unique; bars on the doors and windows, the ancient lock and key as well as the 'horse drawing' discovered carved into the door and now faithfully reproduced in various locations within this former jail. Walking through the front door to your left is the wet room which consists of a fantastic shower and WC. Outside in the hallway there is storage space for your belongings as well as a kettle and mini fridge for your morning coffee. Heading up the narrow staircase, you'll discover the double bedroom with a four poster bed and for that extra touch of luxury a Smart TV with Sonos sound bar. Outside there are courtyard areas with tables and chairs where you can relax on warmer nights after visiting one of the many fantastic eateries all within walking distance from the properties. There's a large shared Utility Room a few steps across the courtyard, equipped with washing machine and tumble dryer. There is also a garage space available for one car, as well as a parking permit for a second car to be used on the street outside.
